WHAT CHANGES FOR HELLENIC AND EUROBANK CUSTOMERS FROM MONDAY

Filenews 30 August 2025 - by Theano Thiopoulou

On Monday, September 1st, Hellenic Bank becomes Eurobank Limited after the merger with Eurobank Cyprus and this in practice means that the branches gradually change and after 49 years the labels of Hellenic will be removed. The logo and anything that refers to Hellenic will be replaced in the corporate image of the new bank in the Eurobank Group data. The logo of Hellenic has already disappeared in the main administration building and according to information from "F", the goal is to change the 52 branches of Hellenic in a period of 1.5 to 2 months, then the changes will be extended to the inside of the stores with the aim to unify the systems of the two banks in about two years. The main question for the customers of the two banks is what changes and what remains the same from Monday. "F" records the main points for better information.

What to expect for Hellenic customers

• Accounts, IBANs, and account numbers remain as they are.

• Debit and credit cards, PINs, as well as codes of Online Banking and mobile applications, remain active and do not change. The limits on the cards remain as is, the amount and payment date of the customer's credit card will remain as is. Over time, the existing cards will be replaced with new ones bearing the Eurobank logo. Customers will be informed in a timely manner and no action is required until then.

• The Hellenic Bank Mobile App remains up and running, offering digital options that make daily transactions easier, no matter where the customer is. The login codes will remain the same.

• Standing orders, transfers, account terms continue to apply as well as the existing chequebook.

• Customers are served by the same store and the same personal service officer. In case the customer wishes to transfer his bills to a store of his choice, it is possible. Contact the service officer for more information about the request.

• Contracts, product terms and interest rates remain unchanged until they are updated (the limits on the accounts remain as they are, the interest rates on existing deposits remain as they are). There will be no change in relation to the provisions of the existing contracts as a result of the merger. The interest rates, the basis and the interest rate margin are defined and governed by the agreements already signed between the bank and each customer for each credit facility.

• Remittances between Hellenic Bank and Eurobank Cyprus will now be free of charge, as we are now a single organization. For the rest of the remittances within Cyprus, there is no change – the existing terms continue to apply.

• Safe deposit boxes and their operation remain as they are.

To the question, which commissions/charges (for transfers, transfers, payments, etc.) will apply, of Hellenic Bank or Eurobank Cyprus, the answer is that all charges remain as they are. For any changes to the list of charges and commissions posted on the Hellenic Airlines' website, customers will be informed within a reasonable period of time, based on applicable legislation.

What about the loan of a Hellenic customer that has been approved before the legal consolidation of Hellenic Bank but has not been issued. Will anything change? The answer is "There will be no change in relation to approvals, which have been obtained before the date of legal consolidation, for which the relevant loan/collateral documents have already been signed, all relevant approval conditions have been met and the implementation/issuance of the loans is pending. However, if approval has been received before the relevant date and an offer letter is in force, then the implementation/issuance of the loans is pending, provided that all other relevant loan/collateral documents will be signed and all relevant approval conditions are met".

What Eurobank's customers can expect

At this stage there will be no change to the cards and their operation continues normally. If they will join the blue card loyalty program and benefit from cashback, the answer is not for the time being, but the bank is working in that direction. Cash withdrawals from all ATMs in Cyprus remain free of charge. For any changes to the list of charges and commissions, which is posted on the website, you will be informed within a reasonable period of time, based on the applicable legislation. The limit for withdrawing cash from Hellenic Bank ATMs, with Eurobank Cyprus cards, is €500 per transaction, while the total withdrawal amount is subject to the set daily limits of your card.

And in the case of Eurobank customers, the PIN of the card will not change, the limits on the cards will remain as they are, the amount and the date of payment of the credit card will remain as they are. Eurobank Cy Mobile App and Digital Banking (Personal & Business) remain in operation normally, the login codes remain the same. If anything will change in the products or services offered to me by Eurobank's Wealth Management Department, the answer is no. To the question of whether the way investment instructions are given will be affected, the bank's answer is no. All orders will continue to be given in the same way as they have been given so far.

Common customers

What happens if the customer maintains accounts and other credit facilities with both banks. At this stage, they will be served by both operators until the systems are integrated. The operation of the bank safe deposit box is not affected, while the relevant terms and conditions of its use remain in force. If a customer holds cards at both banks, at this stage there will be no change and the limits will remain the same. If a customer maintains loans to both banks, there will be no change in the provisions of the existing contracts as a result of the merger.
