Before the day dawned, it began with fires. A fire that broke out in the area of Tala caused an alarm to the authorities, with strong ground forces rushing to the place, while two of the Forestry Department's firefighting planes took off from their base at Paphos Airport and were operating in the area.
The fire, which broke out within the residential area, threatened residences, which, however, were not damaged due to the immediate and intense mobilization of the fire forces. It was quickly brought under control and after it was completely extinguished, the Police and Fire Brigade investigations began for the causes that caused it.
However, the situation is of particular concern, due to the expected and currently extreme heat wave phenomena.
On the occasion of today's fire in Tala, the plans of the authorities in the province are intensifying to prevent the worst. The many fires that continue to be recorded in Paphos, despite the shock from the deadly fire in Limassol, keep the Fire Brigade and the Police at the socket, which are working on additional and additional plans.
The repeated fires in areas of rural Paphos with a "history" of arson, although in most cases they were dealt with in time, prompt the Fire Service and the Police to elaborate new measures aimed at more effective policing in these areas. In this context, instructions were given to the team with the Unmanned Aircraft Systems of the Fire Service to monitor the suspicious areas with aerial patrols, acting as a support to the two main firefighting aircraft, the helicopters, which are already in Paphos, but also the firefighting flying vehicles of the Forestry Department based in Paphos, Larnaca and Akrotiri.
The situation worries the authorities, since although the fires that have been recorded in recent months in the Paphos district were dealt with immediately and with the least possible losses, it is nevertheless found that superhuman efforts will be needed to achieve the goal for a summer with as few losses as possible in property and the environment.
