SATURDAY 'FURNACE' WITH YELLOW WARNING - THE MERCURY CLIMBS TO 42 DEGREES

A Yellow Warning for extreme maximum temperature was issued for the third consecutive day by the Department of Meteorology.

The mercury is expected to climb to 42 degrees in the interior and 32 degrees in the mountains.

The warning will come into effect at 12:00 noon and will last until 5:00 p.m.

The forecast in detail

Seasonal low pressure affects the area.

Today, the weather will be mainly clear. The winds will initially blow variable weak, 3 Beaufort, to later become mainly southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort and locally downwards, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be a little rough. The temperature will rise to 42 degrees inland, around 35 degrees on the southern, eastern and northern coasts and around 32 degrees on the west coast as well as in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be mainly clear, while locally sparse fog or fog and low cloudiness may form, mainly in the south and east. The winds will blow mainly from the southwest to the northwest, weak and locally to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be up to a little rough. The temperature will drop to around 23 degrees in the interior and the coasts and to 21 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday the weather will be mainly clear. The temperature will gradually drop during the three-day period to fluctuate until Tuesday close to average climatic values.
