NEW TERMINAL IN WUHAN FOR CHINA-EUROPE FREIGHT TRAINS

 Filenews 8 August 2025

Hubei province in central China on Wednesday inaugurated a second commercial terminal for rail trains linking China to Europe, boosting logistics interconnection through Wuhan.

The first commercial route from the new station started from the Xianglusan railway junction with a cargo of auto parts and the final destination was Kazakhstan.

The new terminal, which operates in Hubei's capital, Wuhan, allows customs procedures to be completed on site, without the need for transhipment, reducing the total transit time by about two days. At the same time, the cost of cargo management is reduced by 15% compared to the previous system.

Xianglusan Station is an important hub for connecting freight transport by rail and waterways, while the new facility in Wuhan is expected to significantly improve the flow of exports.

Until recently, goods destined for export were collected in Wuhan and transported via the Yangtze River to Yuhyasan Station—the only departure point for freight trains to Europe via Central Asia.

The new investment reinforces China's strategy to expand land trade corridors with Europe, as part of the Belt and Road (BRI) Initiative.
