Filenews 1 August 2025

Instructions for the re-issuance of passports and identity cards of those affected by the fire in Limassol were issued on Friday by the Ministry of the Interior, noting that this will be done without the payment of fees.

Specifically, following the decision of the Council of Ministers on the support measures for citizens affected by the fire in Limassol, and specifically with regard to the re-issuance and replacement of passports and identity cards that have been damaged or have been completely destroyed due to the fire and are in force, the Ministry announced the steps that affected citizens must follow for their replacement.

As mentioned, the citizen/applicant, as the usual procedure in cases of damage/loss of passport and identity card, will declare the damage of the document to the Police, in order to proceed with the cancellation of the valid document and submits a certificate of complaint (Form As. 235) to the Limassol District Administration and then, the citizen addresses the Limassol District Administration for the reissue/replacement of the document.

It is noted that, according to the Ministerial Decision, the new documents will be issued without payment of fees by the applicants.
