The 2nd Interreg Greece-Cyprus 2021-2027 call for proposals is open

The Managing Authority of the Interreg VI-A Greece-Cyprus Cooperation Programme 2021-2027 has announced the publication of the second call for project proposals, with an application period from 29 August to 30 September 2025. The total budget amounts to €7 million and concerns the promotion of socio-economic development through culture, sustainable tourism and social economy.

Who can participate

The call is open to national, regional or local public authorities, bodies governed by public law, non-profit private organisations, international organisations operating under the national law of the participating States, as well as European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTCs). Eligible beneficiaries are invited to submit a full application for funding in order to be included in the programme, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and national resources of Greece and Cyprus.

In order to participate in operations of the Greece-Cyprus Cooperation Programme, an entity must be established in the relevant cross-border area.

However, there are exceptions:

Entities located outside the Programme area, but have local/regional subsidiaries/branches in the Programme area (operating in the last 12 months from the date of submission of the Action proposal);

Central government bodies located outside the Programme area, such as ministries or other government authorities with specific responsibilities at the national level.

Entities located outside the Programme area, but within Greece or Cyprus, provided that their participation offers added value and experience in the implementation of the Action and benefits the Programme cooperation area.

Therefore, each potential Beneficiary should consider whether they fall into one of the three categories listed above.

Each candidate participates in a proposal for an Act on his/her own responsibility.

In STAGE A, beneficiaries are invited to declare their eligibility and provide relevant information through the Summary Memorandum. The eligibility check of each Beneficiary in the context of a proposed Action is part of the evaluation process and will be carried out during STAGE B of the evaluation, based on the Action Selection Criteria.

The implementation area includes Cyprus, as well as island regions of Greece: Lesvos, Lemnos, Ikaria, Samos, Chios, Dodecanese, Cyclades and Crete.

After the electronic submission through the Integrated Information System (ICS), the lead partner and the beneficiaries are informed about the progress of the proposal. Entities that do not have an "Entity code" in the OPS must apply for codification, while the creation of an individual user account is required for the executives and the legal representative of the lead partner. The legal documents to be attached include elements of administrative and financial capacity, implementation competence, as well as a regulatory framework for infrastructure projects.

What the program offers

The programme offers support tools for prospective beneficiaries, such as online and hybrid information events (Info-Days), a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section with the ability to send queries up to 15 days before the deadline, technical support helpdesks for the OPS, as well as direct support from the Joint Secretariat and the Cyprus Information Office.
