He believes that the Police began to unravel the tangle of attempted murder against a security guard and the arson of 4 cars of a rental company on the coastal road of Pyla on August 14. After the arrest of an 18-year-old from Romania, who allegedly stole from Limassol the vehicle used by the perpetrators, the Larnaca Police Department, after a major operation in a village in Paphos, also handcuffed a 27-year-old foreigner.
According to information from Filenews, the suspect's involvement in both the theft of the car and the criminal action that followed in Pyla is being investigated. The same sources say that rapid developments are expected in the case, since the Police intend to handcuff other people. It is noted that the 18-year-old is under eight-day detention, while the 27-year-old is expected to be brought before the Larnaca District Court tomorrow for the issuance of a detention order.
The tip of the thread was found after the accidental arrest of the 18-year-old Romanian on August 21, when he was spotted driving another stolen vehicle in Paphos. It is noted that the suspect had been wanted for the Pyla case since August 18. As reported before the Larnaca District Court, the suspect allegedly stole, one day before the attempted murder (August 13), another car from Kolossi. Two hours later, he was seen by a police officer in Paphos driving the specific vehicle.
At 3:30 in the morning of August 14, the vehicle in question seems to have been used for the trafficking of the perpetrators of the attempted murder and arson. According to what was said in court, three people were on board. The passenger got out holding a pistol with which he fired at the security guard of the premises, with the bullet passing next to him and nailing it to a pillar. A person sitting in the back seat of the vehicle, moreover, doused gasoline and set fire to four of the company's vehicles. The Police are investigating whether the 18-year-old was the driver of the car, a possibility that his lawyer rejected before the court, claiming that the client has nothing to do with what happened in Pyla, since he was outside Cyprus.
It is recalled that a closed surveillance circuit was received from the area that recorded the movements of the perpetrators, who had their faces covered. The criminal act that bears the stamp of organized crime, meanwhile, seems to be linked to the arson of the vehicle driven by a 42-year-old man in Aradippou, which was committed on August 15.

Four dogs of the German Shepherd breed had attacked the 64-year-old woman the day before yesterday while she was opening them, as she did every day, for the purpose of guarding the factory where she worked.
The wolfhounds were familiar with the 64-year-old and had never shown aggressive behaviour before, according to the testimonies collected by the Police so far. What is being investigated is what triggered the aggressive behaviour this time and they massively injured the unfortunate woman.
This breed is not included in the category where their import is prohibited and there are thousands in Cyprus without problems. Such dogs are also available to the Police, which are used by anti-riot groups to suppress incidents, since they receive the appropriate training and attack a person only on instructions.
According to information from "F" from the Police, the four dogs have not been picked up by the Veterinary Services who have been informed about the incident, but remain in the recycling unit until the whole tragic incident is investigated. According to the Police, the attack on the 64-year-old had occurred the day before yesterday afternoon when at 16:30, shortly before school, the female employee at a recycling unit in Agios Ioannis Malountas, went to open the cage of the four dogs, as is done every day, so that they enter a fenced area, where they remain every night, for guarding purposes.
Under circumstances that are being investigated, the dogs attacked her and bit her legs. The woman is hospitalized at the Nicosia General Hospital where she underwent surgery. According to the attending physicians, her health condition is considered out of danger.
Relevant investigations are being conducted by members of the Kliros police station, who receive testimonies from various persons in relation to the incident, while the dogs will also be examined by a veterinarian. A testimony will also be taken by the 64-year-old when she is able to do so. It is noted that the episode took place on the day of World Dog Day.

A lawyer was sentenced by the Disciplinary Council to a fine of €3,500 and €1,500 costs of the proceedings for the charge of demonstrating conduct incompatible with the profession of lawyer in violation of article 17(1) of the Law on Lawyers Cap. 2.
The defendant's lawyer has been found guilty of committing the disciplinary offence after a hearing after denying the charge against her. The facts constituting the alleged offence concern, according to the indictment, the total amount of €13,900 belonging to the complainant (the complaint was made in 2014) and which she failed to pay to the beneficiary within a reasonable period of time or as soon as possible despite the fact that she was strongly harassed to do so.
According to the decision of the Disciplinary Board, the complainant was a client of the lawyer and the amount of €25,080 was rushed to her for its safe storage and disposal in accordance with the instructions of the beneficiary complainant. The defendant has disposed of the largest part of the deposited amount on behalf of the beneficiary, returned the amount of €9,930 to her, while withholding the amount of €4,950 to cover the alleged lawyer's fee for out-of-court cases.
According to the findings of the Council included in its decision, the defendant withheld the amount of €3,230 for remuneration for alleged services. For the calculation of the defendant's reasonable remuneration for out-of-court services, a request had been submitted to the Fees Committee of the Cyprus Bar Association.
The Commission set the amount of €450 as a reasonable remuneration for the defendant's services, while the defendant withheld the amount of €3,680 for out-of-court cases and an amount of €1,270 for other judicial services. The decision of the Remuneration Committee was adopted on 23 June 2017 and has not been challenged by the defendant. The defendant withheld the amount of €3,230 (if the €450 which was her fee is deducted), despite the decision of the Remuneration Committee and did not pay it to the beneficiary/complainant to date.
As stated in the decision of the Disciplinary Board, the offence committed by the defendant is in itself serious and constitutes a blow that substantially undermines the prestige and credibility of the profession of lawyer. The entrustment and, in general, the safekeeping by a lawyer of assets, especially money, is a serious responsibility and can be said to be a common practice in the practice of the profession and the illegal retention of them by the lawyer to whom they entrust affects the foundations of the seriousness and credibility of the profession.
In this particular case, the seriousness of the offence is aggravated since the amount of the defendant's remuneration has been definitively determined by the Remuneration Committee. The continuation of the withholding of the relevant amount, after the decision of the Commission and until today, is strongly reprehensible and unacceptable. The justification put forward for the Court of Justice not to ratify the Commission's decision is legally inadmissible, as the Council has already held. The complainant may, of course, consider taking appropriate legal measures against the defendant for the unlawful retention of her money.
In the end, the Council imposed a fine of €3,500 on her and to pay to the Disciplinary Council's Fund the amount of €1,200 against his expenses for the conduct of the present proceedings.
The Disciplinary Council consisted of Pambos Ioannidis President, Andreas Hasikos and Alekos Argyrou, members.
