The Tax Department warns the public about misleading emails, which bear its logo and urge citizens to scan QR codes for a supposed tax refund.
According to an announcement by the Department, these messages are an attempt to deceive, as they try to mislead citizens to open suspicious files or follow malicious links.
The Tax Department calls on taxpayers to ignore these messages, pointing out that tax refunds (VAT, Income Tax, etc.) are made only via bank transfer, to the account declared with IBAN by the taxpayer himself through secure procedures.
At the same time, it is underlined that the official electronic communication of the Department is done only via email ending in @tax.mof.gov.cy Any other email address is considered suspicious and should be treated with caution.
