UK ISSUES TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR TOURISTS AND VISITORS FOLLOWING DEADLY LIMASSOL FIRE

in-cyprus 25 July 2025 - by Constantinos Tsindas

The Foreign Office has issued a travel warning for British nationals visiting Cyprus, with specific advice on fire protection, following the Limassol blaze.

UK authorities warn tourists that there are active wildfires on the island, including the Paphos and Limassol district, which have resulted in some evacuations from affected areas.

As noted in the travel advisory, transport and infrastructure, such as electricity and water links in locations close to the fires may be affected whilst authorities respond to the situation.

Both Paphos and Larnaca airports are operating as normal, the Foreign Office said.

If you are due to travel to an area that might be affected by wildfires, the British authorities advise visitors, contact your travel operator or accommodation provider before you travel to check that it is not currently impacted.

Make sure you have appropriate insurance, it is stressed.

  • Be cautious, it says, if you are in or near an area affected by wildfires. ‘You should follow the guidance of the emergency services’, the Foreign Office adds, calling on tourists on other visitors to contact 112 if they are in immediate danger, as well as the airline or travel operator, who can assist with information relating travel back to the UK.
