'ORANGE' WARNING AGAIN TODAY - NOTICEABLE DROP IN TEMPERATURE COMING

The Meteorology Department has issued a new warning for extreme maximum temperatures for Sunday, with an orange warning level. It is in effect from midnight until 5 pm on Sunday.

As the warning states, the maximum temperature today is expected to rise to around 43 degrees Celsius inland and 33 in the higher mountains.

According to the Department of Meteorology, the temperature will gradually drop significantly by Wednesday, to hover close to average climatic values.

The detailed forecast: 

Seasonal low pressure and warm air masses affect the area.

Today, after the local fog has cleared, the weather will be mostly clear. Winds will initially be mainly southeasterly, 3 Beaufort, later becoming mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough. The temperature will rise to 43 degrees inland, around 36 on the east, south and north coasts and around 33 degrees on the west coast and the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be mainly clear. Locally, light fog or mist and low cloud cover are expected. Winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast weak, 3 Beaufort and the sea will be calm to slightly rough. The temperature will drop to 27 degrees inland, around 25 on the coast and 24 degrees in the higher mountains.  

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday the weather will be mainly clear. The temperature will gradually drop significantly until Wednesday, to hover close to average climatological values.
