FRAUD RELATED TO PACKAGE DELIVERY ALLEGEDLY FROM CYPRUS POST OFFICE

 Pafos Press 3 July 2025

The Police advise the public to be careful regarding a new scam with messages referring to the delivery of postal packages and  aimed at stealing money and stealing citizens' personal data .

According to reports received by the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate of the Police Headquarters, in fraudulent telephone messages sent to citizens, it is stated that, in order to deliver a postal package, citizens must pay for their address details, so that the delivery of the package can then be completed by the Cyprus Post. The messages contain an electronic link  , which citizens are invited to select/follow, in order to enter their address details.

These messages have not been sent by the Cyprus Post. Citizens who receive such messages are urged to be particularly careful and not to select/follow the specific electronic links, as  there is a risk of money being stolen from their bank accounts and their personal information being stolen .

In cases where citizens are actually expecting the delivery of postal parcels, it is recommended that they check the progress of their parcels, either by contacting the seller or sender, or by contacting the courier company through which the shipment is processed.

Further advice on protection against this type of fraud is also listed on the Cyprus Post website, at the link below:
