Fourth Arrest in Paphos Robbery Case

​The Police yesterday arrested a 14-year-old person, as part of an investigation into the robbery case, which was committed in the early hours of last Sunday, June 29, in Paphos, with a pair of tourists as victims.

The 14-year-old was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, pursuant to a court warrant, following information that emerged during the investigation of the case by the Paphos Police Station.

For the same case, three other persons, aged 21, 17 and 15, were arrested on Sunday and yesterday, Tuesday  (Police Press Release No. 2, dated 30/06/2025 and Police Press Release 2, dated  01/07/2025, respectively) . They remain in custody, pursuant to court orders, for the purposes of investigating the case.

According to the information under investigation, at around 2.40am on Sunday, in Paphos, while a man and woman, aged 30, were walking on a city street, they were approached by around ten individuals, who allegedly attacked them and stole a beach bag containing personal belongings and a small amount of money and a purse containing a mobile phone.  

The complainants visited Paphos General Hospital, where they were found to have abrasions and bruises. After receiving first aid, they were discharged the same day.

A manhunt includes the case of an explosion at the offices of a company in Limassol, which mobilized the authorities at dawn.

As Filenews is informed, when the perpetrator went to the offices of a contractor company in Agios Tychonas at about 3:00 to place explosives, he was noticed.

Specifically, his actions were noticed by the security guard in a building under construction adjacent to the offices of the contractor company.

The worker even pursued the perpetrator. The perpetrator, in his attempt to escape, left the motorcycle on the ground with which he went to the scene and fled on foot.

The motorcycle was taken as evidence and is being examined, while the scene is under guard by the Police.

Investigations to clarify the case continue.

The Republic of Cyprus participated for the 14th consecutive year in the operation PANGEA, which took place between the dates 16/12/2024 – 16/5/2025. The operation was carried out simultaneously at a global level, with the participation of 90 INTERPOL Member Countries, with the aim of identifying and confiscating falsified pharmaceutical products circulating via the internet.



On behalf of the Police, the Branch for the Fight against Intellectual Property Theft and Illegal Betting Offences, the Cybercrime Sub-Directorate, which was also responsible for coordinating and conducting the whole operation, as well as the Anti-Drug Service, participated.

The operation is co-organized by INTERPOLEUROPOL, the World Customs Organization (WCO), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other bodies.

During the operation, 1728 investigations were carried out on a global scale and illegal pharmaceutical products with an estimated total value of more than 65 million US dollars were seized. In addition, 13,000 illegal websites, links and channels were identified and deleted, 769 suspects were arrested and 123 criminal organizations were dismantled, marking the highest number in PANGEA's 17-year operational history.

The operation in Cyprus was carried out by the Police, with the participation of the Pharmaceutical Services, the Customs Department, the Postal Services, the Health Services, the Veterinary Services, the Competent Medical Equipment Authority, the Ministry of Energy, Trade & Industry and the State Chemical Laboratory.

14 joint coordinated operations were carried out at various premises as well as checks at various entry points to the RC. More than 7950 products were seized, which fall under various prohibitions and restrictions, in accordance with the provisions of our National Legislation, including pharmaceutical preparations, pills (stimulants and antidepressants), anabolic substances and tobacco products.

The Famagusta TAE is investigating a case of assault and causing serious bodily harm to a 17-year-old from Hungary, who is hospitalized intubated in critical condition at the Nicosia General Hospital.

According to the Police, around 06:30 in the morning of Tuesday, July 2, information was received about an injured person, who was transported by ambulance to the hospital. From the preliminary testimony, it emerged that the 17-year-old, while walking with a friend on Ayias Mavris Street in Ayia Napa, was attacked by a group of people.

From the attack he suffered a fracture in the jaw and due to the seriousness of his condition, he was intubated.

Investigations by the investigating authorities are underway to identify the perpetrators and fully clarify the case. The Police, however, believe that the perpetrators of the attack are foreigners.
