Filenews 11 July 2025
CERA announced on Friday morning that it has approved the Pricing of the EAC Regulated Activities, as submitted by the Chairman of the EAC Board of Directors in his letter dated 12 June 2025.
As it had been said by EAC executives, with the new tariffs there will be increases of about 3%, but not at the same rate for all consumers. 3% mainly concerns consumers with an average consumption of 800 kilowatt hours per two months.
CERA also approved the... request of the Board of Directors of EAC (after intense political pressure from the government and the President of the Republic himself) for a reduction of the Permitted Revenues for the year 2025. According to CERA:
- The requested reductions in the Allowable Revenues of EAC Supply (and EAC Distribution) for the year 2025 relate exclusively to the zeroing of the accounting adjustments (ed. money that EAC had to receive from previous years) and a reduction in yields,
- EAC's request serves the public interest, since it will result in the reduction of the burden on consumers.
For EAC Procurement, the total allowable revenues for 2025, according to CERA's decision, is €26.2 million.
For EAC Distribution, CERA states that the requested reductions in its Permitted Revenues for the year 2025 do not affect the implementation of any approved development projects, but relate exclusively to the zeroing of accounting adjustments and a reduction in yields below 4.6%, which is the maximum permissible rate of return.
With the revision that has been made, the allowable revenues of EAC Distribution for 2025 will be €105.1 million.
For EAC Transport, CERA ruled that the requested reductions in the Allowable Revenues of the EAC Transport Authority for the year 2025 do not affect the implementation of any approved development projects, but relate exclusively to the zeroing of accounting adjustments and a reduction in yields below 4.6%, which is the maximum permissible rate of return. The allowable revenues of the Transport were limited to €40 million.
For EAC Production, the new allowable revenues for 2025 amount to €401.2 million.
