New data from member states shows that more than €33 billion in VAT revenue was collected in 2024 through the EU's e-commerce VAT systems, "a clear sign that the 2021 reforms are delivering on their promise to simplify compliance, support businesses and ensure fairer taxation", the Commission says.
According to a press release from the European Commission, through a single registration in one Member State, One Stop Shop (OSS) and Import One Stop Shop (IOSS) allow businesses to declare and refund VAT on cross-border sales of goods and services within the EU, as well as on imports of low-value goods.
Today's figures confirm that businesses continue to take full advantage of these simplifications, which reduce bureaucracy and compliance costs, while ensuring VAT collection.
