Works will begin next week for the upgrade of the coastal front of Limassol, aiming at the aesthetic and functional improvement of the area, the restoration of damage, and the cleaning of public spaces.
At the same time, the Municipality of Limassol has proceeded with significant interventions on the sea front, with the aim of facilitating people with mobility difficulties so that they can enjoy the sea without obstacles.

Speaking to Filenews, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Limassol, Municipality Katsis, said that these are essential interventions, which are part of the overall strategy for a humane city, which integrates all citizens without exceptions.
As he explained: "It was our great pleasure and priority to create access points so that people with mobility difficulties can use the facilities and enjoy their bathing." These are three new points on the coastal front. One opposite the twin towers, one in Thalassokoritso and the third point is located at the end of the boundaries of the Municipality, near a well-known hotel.

In addition to the above, the Municipality of Limassol has proceeded with repairs next to the Olympia Coast in an existing area that is being renovated. A metal ramp will be built there, so that people with mobility problems can enter the sea safely. The work is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.
At the same time, a major renovation project of the entire coastal front has begun. As Mr. Katsis said, the relevant offer has already been given and the improvement works are expected to start next week. The works include painting, repairs to toilets and showers, landscaping of the space, upgrading and reconstruction of benches and sidewalks, maintenance and repair of existing structures near the sea.
In addition, reconstruction works will be carried out in two areas. One concerns a playground and an outdoor gym, which are located within the coastal zone, near the Thalassokoritso premises.

Asked to take a position on the state of public sanitary areas, the deputy mayor reminded that a proposal has been submitted to the Municipal Council. As he stressed, the above works will also include the reconstruction of public sanitary areas. His proposal, which he has put before the Municipal Council, in order for these areas to remain clean, includes the hiring of cleaning personnel who will be on site, as well as a small symbolic charge of 0.25 cents for showers, in order to limit unnecessary water consumption. The proposal has already been brought to the attention of the Municipal Council and is expected, according to Mr. Katsis, to be discussed and decided in the near future.
Finally, he underlined that water quality measurements continue systematically in the areas of the Olympian Coast and the Ladies' Mile, with the results so far being particularly positive.
