RESCUE OPERATION BY THE ISRAELI NAVY - DAMAGE TO A BOAT CARRYING ISRAELIS, INCLUDING TWO CYPRIOTS

The Israeli Navy proceeded with a rescue operation, after a mechanical failure occurred on a boat carrying Israeli citizens from Cyprus, according to a report by The Times of Israel.

The incident occurred in the sea area west of Lebanon, when the vessel came to a standstill due to an engine failure, at a distance of about 25 nautical miles from the port of Sidon.

According to the report, 16 Israeli citizens were on board, who had been trapped outside the country due to the dangerous situation in the Middle East and were attempting to return. With them were two Cypriots, members of the crew.

The mobilization was immediate. The Search and Rescue Coordination Center of the relevant ministry, in cooperation with the Israeli naval forces, undertook the coordination of the operation. All passengers were safely rescued and transported to a safe destination.

The information states that Israel's assistance was made after being notified of the incident site, with authorities confirming that there was no danger to the lives of the passengers.
