The Government Spokesman, Mr. Konstantinos Letymbiotis, referred to the opening of the Rapid Patient Handling Clinic at the Paphos General Hospital today.
In his statements to journalists, in the context of his briefing to the media, at the Presidential Palace, the Spokesperson said that "yesterday, Monday, June 2, the Rapid Patient Handling Clinic in the area of the A&E of Paphos Hospital officially began its operation, actively strengthening the Government's philosophy for a more humane, functional and effective health system.
The operation of the new clinic is part of a broader plan to upgrade and modernize the Accident and Emergency Departments throughout the country, with the aim of reducing waiting times and improving the quality of service to citizens. This is a management model that has already been implemented in Nicosia since the end of March, with particularly encouraging results. It is noted that from April 1 to May 25, 1,117 patients were served at the Rapid Transit Clinics.
The Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Damianos, described the institution as a crucial step in upgrading the health services provided. The new Rapid Transit Clinic will operate daily from 2.30pm to 9.30pm, will be staffed by a doctor and a nurse, and will serve category 4 and 5 cases, offering appropriate care without burdening the A&E with non-emergencies.
Already, during yesterday's first day of operation of the Clinic, a percentage of 35.4% of the patients who registered in the A&E Department of Paphos Hospital were examined at the Rapid Patient Handling Clinic with the results being considered very encouraging
The aim of the institution is to decongest the A&E and improve the response time to incidents that really need immediate intervention. By separating the cases and guiding them in the appropriate space, the safety of patients and the proper functioning of the Services are ensured".
