The Ministry of Education announces the launch of the "Summer Public Schools (T.D.S.)" program.
As stated in a statement by the Ministry, the long-standing goal of the T.I.D.S. is to offer opportunities for learning and creative employment, especially to children who come from vulnerable population groups.
Specifically, this year 58 schools will operate as T.D.S., of which 37 Primary Schools and 21 Kindergartens, covering all five provinces of Cyprus. The period of operation of the T.I.D. is from 23 June to 25 July 2025. In order to cover the operational needs of the Teaching Centres, primary, pre-primary and special education teachers will be employed, while a number of school escorts/assistants will also be employed for the needs of special education children.
A very well-organized educational program of creative activities is implemented in the T.D.S., which are intertwined with the interests and different abilities and needs of the children. The Curriculum of the T.D.S. includes creative activities, such as: Visual Expression, Music, Theater, Physical Education, Life Education, with themes related to the summer season, indoor and outdoor games, Puppet Theater, Reading/Library, etc. In addition, during the operation of the T.D.S., the Greek language learning program for children with immigrant backgrounds will continue.
The Summer Public Schools program is offered free of charge to all children. Parents/guardians contribute financially only to cover the cost of feeding the children who choose to attend in the afternoon zone of the T.D.S.
The Ministry of Education, Education, and Education, is also proceeding this year with the expansion of the institution so that it can be universally applied to Special Schools. The operation of the program will be implemented for the period from June 23 to August 1, 2025, with the aim of offering learning and creative employment opportunities to children attending the seven Special Schools. The program will last from 7:45 to 13:05 and/or until 16:00 (for those children who choose afternoon attendance).
The program that will be implemented in the Summer Public Special Schools is analogous to the program of the Special Optional All-Day School, adapted to the needs of the children who will participate and the infrastructure of the schools.
