Speaking on Monday morning on Tuesday's Morning Itinerary, Energy Minister George Papanastasiou said that EAC will re-evaluate the recoverable expenses it had requested from CERA and will submit a new request in the coming days, for larger amounts.
The decision to amend the list of recoverable costs requested by EAC to be approved by CERA was taken at separate meetings held last week under the chairmanship of President Christodoulides, with the participation of the Minister of Energy Giorgos Papanastasiou, CERA, ETYFA and EAC.
EAC's initial request to CERA was approved with several expense write-offs by the regulator and resulted in an amount that leads to increases of about 7.5% in basic electricity prices. President Christodoulides, during a previous meeting with the leadership of the Electricity Authority, had asked not to impose increases at this level.
With the new reduced recoverable costs requested by the EAC, it is estimated that the necessary price increases will be limited to around 3%.
