A new voluntary immediate response system, which is already being implemented with great success and thousands of volunteers in Israel, is also coming to Cyprus with the beginning taking place in Limassol where a specially trained group of citizens has already been established.
United Rescue Cyprus was unveiled today during a press conference and is "an innovative voluntary emergency response system, inspired by the successful model of United Rescue Israel, which has over 9,000 volunteers and responds to incidents within 90 seconds in major cities.
United Rescue Cyprus' goal is to bridge the critical time gap between the occurrence of an emergency and the arrival of the ambulance.
During the press conference, the founding members – Exness Global Ltd, Bbf Global Limited, Maxim Pasik, Nikolaos Zamboglou, Letshelp, Soteris Pittas & Co LLC, Sotiris Pittas and Magnumserve Ltd – together with the first group of trained volunteers, presented the vision and goals of the initiative.
They stressed that "United Rescue Cyprus is not just a new model of emergency care, but a movement based on humanity, innovation and shared responsibility".
In this context, he addressed "an open invitation to all citizens to be educated and join the network first, giving them the opportunity to become everyday heroes and contribute decisively to the rescue of their fellow human beings. At the same time, the participation of sponsors, partners and the local community was encouraged to support the initiative."
The United Rescue Cyprus pilot program officially starts in Limassol, "with a dynamic team that includes doctors, nurses and trained volunteers. The program is expected to be gradually expanded throughout Cyprus, aiming to reach every person in need of help in record time."
United Rescue Cyprus' services are offered free of charge and without discrimination to all.
Maxim Pasik, President and Co-Founder of United Rescue Cyprus and Vice-Chairman of the charity Letshelp, said: "United Rescue Cyprus was founded on a simple but profound truth, that 'whoever saves one soul is like saving the whole world'. All together, as a united community, we can be everywhere where there is a need. In emergencies, every second counts, many times it is the difference between life and death. That is why today we call on every person in Cyprus: if you are ready to learn, care and act, join us and become heroes by saving lives".
Mr. Sotiris Pittas, CEO of Soteris Pittas & Co LLC and Magnumserve Ltd, founder, vice-chairman of the charity Letshelp and co-founder of United Rescue Cyprus, added: "The support of United Rescue Cyprus is a call to all of us – both individuals and companies – to unite for a cause that goes beyond individual interest: saving lives. I believe that together we can change the way emergency care is provided in Cyprus and I encourage everyone to join this vital mission, to save lives and create a safer future for all."
Mr. Martin Thorvaldsson, Community Director of Exness Global Ltd, stated: Exness is committed to acting as a responsible corporate citizen and contributing to the Cypriot society over time. We believe that one of the most effective ways to achieve this is through the United Rescue Cyprus First Aid Emergency Response Network. As a founding member, we are committed to leading this initiative and intend to encourage our employees to volunteer their services in the future. We hope and expect that other organizations will join this effort, so that together we can make Cyprus even better."
Mr. Lefteris Constantinou, General Director of BBF Global LTD, commented: "As a leader in the real estate development sector in Cyprus, bbf: remains firmly committed to improving life on the island, on multiple levels. We joined as founding members of United Rescue Cyprus, recognising the importance of this ambitious undertaking, which offers a substantial contribution to the well-being of the island's residents, with the main aim of saving lives, helping our fellow human beings and building a better future for Cyprus."
Dr.. Nikolaos Zamboglou, Medical Director of the German Oncology Center and Co-Founder of United Rescue Cyprus, stressed: "In many emergency cases, the time of First Aid is crucial to save lives. In everyday life, the existing structures of the Health System - and this concerns not only Cyprus, but also most countries - are unable to ensure, within a few minutes, the provision of First Aid. Volunteerism has always – even since the time of Henry Dunant – covered needs that the state is unable to do.
The intention of United Rescue Cyprus is to organize conditions where coordinated, specialized volunteers can provide First Aid, saving lives."
United Rescue Cyprus aspires to cover the entire island, leading Cyprus closer to the goal of providing immediate assistance within 90 seconds, so as to strengthen the state health system, ensuring that no one is left alone at a critical moment in their lives.
