After the expiry of the period given by the state to interested investors for the major project of the Paphos marina in order to submit proposals, the evaluation of these proposals has now begun by the competent state authorities, with the aim of announcing the international tender for its construction and operation in the first half of the year.
This time goal is now approaching, having entered May, and at the same time the anxiety of the Paphos officials for the unhindered, this time, promotion of the procedures is increasing.
Speaking to "F", the president of the Cyprus Association of Large Developments, Andreas Dimitriades, stressed that the evaluation of the proposals of the prospective investors will be done in cooperation with the consultants hired by the state. The suggestions and proposals submitted by investors will be examined, he stressed, and then the terms and specifications of the international tender will be prepared with the aim of announcing the tender in the first half of this year.
Andreas Dimitriadis estimated that the construction of the Paphos marina, which will be the largest in Cyprus, will cause a surge in the development prospects of the entire province and will put Paphos on the map of maritime tourism and indeed of the highest income and economic class that deals with luxury boats.
In addition, the president of the Association of Large Developments stressed, the major project of the Paphos district will contribute to the enrichment and upgrading of the general tourism product of the province.
As is well known, the design concerns a marina with a capacity of a thousand berths, given that Paphos' position as the gateway from Europe to Cyprus will give it a significant advantage over the other corresponding projects of the other provinces. Andreas Dimitriadis also said that the Paphos marina will include onshore commercial developments, residential development, a cultural centre and support services.
