MUSEUM OF NATIONAL HISTORY OPENS IN PARALIMNI

Rare historical exhibits from the private collection of Captain Sergios Sergios Kerkoullas, from the Middle Ages, the Byzantine Period, the Greek Revolution, the Balkan and the two world wars, as well as from the National Liberation Struggle of EOKA 1955-59 adorn the Museum of National History in Paralimni, which was opened to the public.

The inauguration of the museum, located in the center of Paralimni, was celebrated by the Minister of Defence, Vassilis Palmas, who said that it will serve as an important center for understanding the history and promotion of Cypriot culture. He also noted that through the exhibits, the history of the Nation from the Byzantine period to the EOKA Struggle unfolds, with emphasis on man and religious tradition.

On his part, the mayor of Paralimni-Deryneia, Giorgos Nikolettos, noted that the museum will be a point of reference for the historical memory and cultural identity of the place. He also pointed out that through its creation, the importance of preserving our national heritage is highlighted and the visitor is provided with the opportunity to get to know authentic documents of the history of Cyprus and Hellenism.

The Museum of National History will be open Tuesday-Friday from 8:00-13:00 and every Saturday from 09:00-14:00, while it will be closed on public holidays. 

The entrance fee was set at €3 for people over 12 years old, however, by decision of the Municipal Council of Paralimni-Deryneia, admission will be free until August 31, 2025.
