Filenews 2 May 2025
A news item accompanied by questions is published by a website from Israel, which specializes in tourism and flights.
This is the passportnews.co.il website, which speaks of an Air Haifa flight disruption between Haifa Airport and Paphos. The same publication speaks of a "postponement until June 15", while the position is expressed that this situation will have side effects on tourism.
However, for the time being, the news is not confirmed to Filenews by competent persons. In particular, our source from the airport management company states that he is ignorant of such a thing for the time being. It indicates, at the same time, that flights are operated daily by airlines, including Ryanair and Air Haifa. He stressed, in fact, that a large number of passengers are carried by Ryanair.
The publication states, among other things: "The start of Air Haifa's direct route from Haifa Airport to Paphos in western Cyprus has now been postponed to June 15.
The latest postponement is more dramatic than the previous one, as June is already considered the high tourist season in Cyprus. It is worth noting that last year, there were about ten flights per day to Paphos during this period, and even more.
It is recalled that the decision to cancel the landing permits for Israeli companies in Paphos came from the Israeli authorities and was issued at the beginning of the year.
The Shin Bet had stated during the previous postponement that "there is no change in the activity guidelines, so the organization's initial announcement from January is still valid, according to which the decision to concentrate flights to and from Cyprus at Larnaca Airport is based on various safety reasons." This is still true now.
The above ban applies to all Israeli airlines, while foreign airlines taking off from Ben Gurion Airport are allowed to land at the western airport of Cyprus.
