EAC - WAITING UNTIL 15 MAY FOR THE GENERATORS IN DHEKELIA - CHOOSE 5 FOR THE BATTERIES

Despite the choice of a seemingly fast-paced process by the EAC, with the approval of the General Accounting Office, the selection of a contractor for the supply and installation of new generators, with a capacity of at least 80 megawatts, for the Dhekelia station, remains pending.

The official information from EAC states that the two Greek companies that continue in the tender, TERNA and AVAX, had asked for an extension until the end of May to submit their new proposals, but the EAC management granted 15 days. This means that by May 15, the two companies will have to return with their proposals.

We remind you that the previous bids submitted by TERNA and AVAX were judged to be incompatible with some of the terms of the tender, but they were also judged to be very expensive, with the highest reaching €148 million.

With the process as it continues, the two contractors have the option to submit proposals for generators from the factories they had originally resorted to (Siemens and General Electric) or to submit proposals from other companies or for other models.

What is mainly of interest to EAC is to secure at an advantageous price small and flexible generators, which will quickly respond to its own needs and those of the Transmission Operator.

Regarding the supply of storage systems, with a capacity of 80 megawatts, for 160 megawatt hours, in Dhekelia, the information from EAC states that out of about 20 companies that expressed interest, five were selected, from which final proposals will be requested.
