Episodic pursuit of the Police in Paphos. One wanted person escaped in a case of attempted murder in Mandria.

According to an update by Filenews, members of the Paphos Police yesterday placed a specific apartment building under discreet surveillance, based on information that the 35-year-old foreigner wanted for the attempted murder of April 30 against a 32-year-old compatriot in Mandria, Paphos, as well as the 39-year-old foreigner wanted along with the former for a robbery case resided there on April 28 against a couple of visitors in Paphos.

The two wanted persons, together with a third person of unknown information, boarded a car half an hour after noon and departed from the apartment building. The car was stopped by the Police a few minutes later on Danaes Avenue in Kato Paphos and the three occupants of it tried to escape.

The 35-year-old foreigner and the third person were stopped and arrested at the scene, while the 39-year-old managed to escape.

During the operation to stop and arrest them, the police officers used their service weapons.

The examinations are ongoing.

Drugs of all kinds were found by the police in the car of a 29-year-old man who was arrested.

According to information that has seen the light of day, members of the police found a parked vehicle yesterday in an area of Limassol.

When the police approached the vehicle, they saw the 29-year-old holding a crystal substance that was found to be MDMA (ecstasy).

The 29-year-old was arrested and a search of his car followed, where in addition to the substance MDMA (ecstasy), a white solid substance weighing about 8 grams, a quantity of pink powder believed to be cocaine, with a total weight of about 7 grams, three nylon packages containing cannabis and two precision scales were found.

Subsequently, a search was carried out at the house of the arrested man where he handed over a quantity of white powder, weighing about two grams, believed to be cocaine.

With an extensive police operation in Limassol, the Cyprus Police attempted to address the growing phenomenon of juvenile delinquency and attacks against foreign food distributors, proceeding with 25 complaints for various traffic offences.

As "F" had reported in yesterday's publication, the Limassol Police Directorate had prepared an order for operations, after mapping the areas where an increase in attacks on food distributors is recorded.

Specifically, during the period 10-11 May 2025 and between the hours of 22:00 – 04:00, the Limassol District Police Directorate implemented a business order aimed at preventing juvenile delinquency and attacks against foreign food distributors.

As part of the operation, a total of 14 patrols were set up, which took action in the city of Limassol. Specifically, a patrol of the UL participated. SA, two patrols of the Limassol OPE, two patrols of the Limassol ADE, three patrols of the MMAD, as well as six two-wheeled patrols of Team Z and the Traffic Police Headquarters.

During the operation, various areas considered criminal were patrolled and checked, such as Ypsonas, Polemidia, Agios Spyridonas, Agia Fyla, Agios Athanasios and Germasogeia, in which recent incidents related to this phenomenon have occurred. At the same time, exercises were carried out in sensitive areas.

The operation resulted in 25 complaints for the following traffic offences:

  1. Two complaints for driving without a driver's license (two motorcycles seized)
  2. Six out-of-court complaints about vehicles without registration plates
  3. Three out-of-court charges for riding a motorcycle without a helmet
  4. Three out-of-court complaints for vehicles without a registration
  5. An out-of-court complaint for a vehicle without an MOT certificate
  6. A complaint about a deleted vehicle
  7. Four out-of-court complaints for various other traffic offences
  8. A complaint for driving an unregistered vehicle
  9. A complaint about a vehicle with a cancelled registration
  10. Three complaints about vehicles without insurance

The operation is part of the ongoing efforts of the Police to enhance the sense of security among citizens and reduce crime.
