Building on a tradition of quality and reliability of almost 25 years and with the dynamics of last year's successful restart of the institution, the "Pafos Aphrodite Festival" offers this year to the fans of the opera a special choice and opportunity.
On the 5th and 6th of September, as part of the 23rd "Pafos Aphrodite Festival", the State Opera and Ballet Theatre of Tbilisi (Georgia), in its second consecutive appearance at the Festival and with the participation of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, will present two performances of the opera "Carmen" by Georges Bizet in the wonderful space of the Medieval Castle Square of Paphos, one of the most famous opera titles of all time.
"Carmen" was first staged in 1875 at the Opéra – Comique in Paris in a libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, inspired by the novel of the same name by the French writer Prosper Merimée. Since then, Georges Bizet's irresistibly explosive protagonist has conquered many generations of viewers, while she continues to charm younger audiences thanks to the recognizable melodies she sings and her unruly and passionate personality.
The organizer of the "Pafos Aphrodite Festival" has been the company Pafos Aphrodite Festi-val Cyprus since its establishment in 1999, the sole shareholder of which is the Municipality of Paphos.
From next Monday, June 2nd, www.pafos.org.cy information about the Festival will be available on the website of the Municipality of Paphos and from the same day, the sale of tickets will begin through the electronic platform of Ticketmaster Cyprus (phone 7777040).
