Neapolis University Paphos Inaugurates a New Era in Legal Education in Cyprus through Strategic Partnership with the University of Reading
The official Press Conference for the announcement of the Foundation's strategic collaboration with the internationally renowned University of Reading , which is ranked 172nd worldwide according to the QS World University Rankings 2025, was held with great success on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the "Kyrenia" Amphitheater of Neapolis University Paphos.
This collaboration marks a new era in higher legal education in Cyprus, as from the academic year 2025–2026, two innovative, English-language Law degree programs will be offered, which will be conducted in comprehensive facilities of Neapolis University Paphos, with degrees awarded directly by the University of Reading:
LLB in Law – Three-Year Undergraduate Law Program
LLM in International Commercial Law – Postgraduate Program with four thematic specializations:
a) International Commercial Law
b) International Commercial Law with Corporate Finance
c) International Commercial Law with Banking Law and Financial Regulation
d) International Commercial Law with Intellectual Property Law and Management
During the event, the President of the University Council, Mr. George M. Leptos, described the collaboration as a milestone with international reach that strengthens the University's position on the global academic map.
The Rector of Neapolis University Paphos, Professor Pantelis Sklias, stated:
"Following our participation as full partners in the EMERGE Strategic Alliance of Universities, our strategic maturation has accelerated with the entry of an internationally prestigious University Institution from the United Kingdom into the core of our academic activities. The choice of Reading to create Law studies, at undergraduate and postgraduate level, in Paphos. The collaboration focuses on offering quality legal education from a highly prestigious Institution, while combining the academic path of qualitative development and international participation in the global academic environment."

The agreement is based on a franchise model, ensuring full academic equivalence and high quality standards. Students will study in an international educational environment, utilizing modern teaching methods and access to world-class academic resources. They will participate in moot courts, gain internship experience and receive an internationally recognized degree from the University of Reading.
This initiative is part of the strategic commitments of Neapolis University Paphos to promote academic excellence, international outreach and the provision of high-quality education with social impact. Through such synergies, the University seeks to offer programs that respond to the challenges of the time and to highlight the role of Cyprus as a point of reference in the global university community.
