According to Paphos Assistant Police Director Michalis Nicolaou, around 10:30 yesterday morning, a 35-year-old foreigner, a visitor to Cyprus, departed alone from the port of Latchi on a rented inflatable boat for a short tour of the surrounding sea area.

Around 16:30, he added, the boat was spotted by citizens floating uncontrolled in the sea area of Argaka, at a distance of about 200 meters from the coast, without a passenger.

The Police and, by extension, the JRCC, which coordinates the search and rescue operation, were immediately informed, Mr. Nicolaou continued.

Two helicopters of the Police and the National Guard, and one of the Port and Maritime Police, as well as members of the Paphos Police Directorate by land, take part in the searches.
