NEW PROJECTS ON THE PAPHOS-POLIS ROAD

New works are planned on the existing Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road to deal with landslides and road failure phenomena. The Department of Public Works of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announced that the Department of Public Works has signed the contract "Provision of services for the study of the prevention and/or stabilization of landslides and/or underground caverns, in three sections of the Paphos-Polis road (B7) from k.p. 17+180 to k.p. 20+400".

The contract was signed, on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, by the Director of the Public Works Department, Mr. Eleftherios Eleftheriou, and, on behalf of A.S.D. Hyperstatic Engineering Design L.L.C., Mr. Stefanos Achilleos.

The project under study is located in the district of Paphos and concerns three problematic sections of the Paphos-Polis road (B7), from k.p. 17+180 to k.p. 20+400, in which repeated phenomena of failure of the road surface, embankment and/or subsoil due to landslides or underground cavities have been recorded.

The services include the preparation of a study and the design of appropriate technical interventions for the stabilisation of these sections of the existing road network.

The implementation of the project is scheduled to start in April 2025, with a duration of 10 months and a total cost of €72,499 plus VAT.
