MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Between 07/01/2025 – 02/05/2025, on Kremmastis Street in Episkopi, a roundabout construction work will be carried out by a private contractor. During the works, the following arrangements will apply: • A section of Kremmastis Street will be closed and traffic will be diverted via Achaion and Argous Streets. • Also, the exit from the Paphos – Limassol motorway towards Limassol at the Episkopi junction will be closed and traffic from the motorway to Episkopi will be diverted via the immediately following Kantou junction.
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. From Thursday 03/04/2025 until Friday 11/04/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, local road surface repairs and shoulder cleaning work will be carried out on the Kofinou-Larnaca motorway. During the works, the left lane of the motorway will be partially closed for a distance of approximately 1 kilometer and traffic will be diverted to the right lane. Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway, Larnaca District, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway On the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, following the opening to traffic on Saturday morning 25/01/2025 of the Kalavasos bridge in the direction from Nicosia to Limassol, following the completion of its upgrade / repair, during the period 30/1/2025 - 15/5/2025, the corresponding upgrade / repair works of the bridge in the direction from Limassol to Nicosia will be carried out. During the course of the works, the two lanes of the motorway in the direction of Nicosia, approximately 1 km long, will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic. Also, the entrance to the motorway, heading towards Limassol from the old Limassol - Nicosia road at the Zygi junction will be closed and traffic from the old road to the motorway will be diverted via the Governor's Beach junction. On the motorway and the Limassol Bypass, on the weekends 05-06/04/2025 and 12-13/04/2025, from 06:00 in the morning until 12:00 in the afternoon, sweeping works will be carried out in sections in both directions. During the works, the right lane of the motorway/bypass will be closed in sections, in one direction only, at all times, and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using the mobile construction site system. In Nicosia, on Monday, 07/04/2025 from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the following day, traffic towards the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, heading towards Limassol, will be diverted via the Strovolos interchange to the old Nicosia-Limassol road and then via the GSP interchange back to the motorway, due to road removal and resurfacing works on the section of the motorway from the exit to the Christos-Stelios Ioannou Foundation to the GSP interchange heading towards Limassol. Epistis in Nicosia, on Tuesday, 08/04/2025 until Thursday 10/04/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, traffic towards Limassol on the motorway will be diverted via the GSP interchange on the old Nicosia-Limassol road and then via the Megalou Alexandrou Avenue interchange (Latsia Weigh Station) back to the motorway, due to road surface removal and resurfacing works on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway from the GSP interchange to the Latsia flyover. Limassol-Paphos motorway From 12/02/2025 until Wednesday 16/04/2025, between the hours of 07:30 – 15:00, daily, except weekends, embankment removal works will be carried out on sections of the Limassol – Paphos motorway, from the New Limassol Hospital exit, to the Petra tou Romiou exit and on sections of the bypass road in both directions. During the works, the emergency lane (hard shoulder) of the motorway will be closed in sections over a length of approximately 200m at any time. Nicosia District In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolos Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/05/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and a section of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolos Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Ippokratous Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their intersection with Themistokleous Street to Nikaias Street and Kentavrou Street respectively. In Lakatamia, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous Avenue, from Friday 07/02/2025 at 11:00 in the morning, and for a period of approximately 4 months, part of Karavostasiou Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, from its junction with Agiou Amvrosiou Street to its junction with Ippokratous Avenue. All movements to and from Ippokratous Avenue will be via Vatylis Street. Traffic from Themistokleous Street to Ippokratous Avenue and vice versa will be via Nikaias Street. Also in Lakatamia, on Sunday 06/04/2025 at 02:00 (after midnight on Saturday) until 06:00 in the morning, Pefkou Street will be closed, from its junction with the new roundabout of Tseriou Avenue, due to asphalt paving works. During the works, traffic from and to the Tseriou roundabout will be conducted via Themistokleous Street. In Tseri, on Sunday 06/04/2025, between the hours of 04:00 in the morning and 16:00 in the afternoon, a section of Tseriou Avenue will be closed, in the direction from Strovolos to Tseri, after the photo-controlled junction with the Eastern Bypass of Tseriou (Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue), due to asphalt paving works. Traffic will be conducted via Spyros Kyprianou Avenue and Agios Georgios Street. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long. and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets. Along Archbishop Makarios III Street (F964), within Akaki, resurfacing works of the existing road surface will be carried out on Thursday 03/04/2025 and from Monday 7/4/2025 until Wednesday 9/4/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day. During the works, on Thursday 3/4/2025 and Monday 7/4/2025, Archbishop Makarios III Street will be closed from its photo-controlled junction with the main Nicosia - Troodos road to the junction with Dimokratias Street. Drivers are urged to use Dimokratias and Michalakis Savvas Streets for their travel. Accordingly, on Tuesday 8/4/2025 and Wednesday 9/4/2025, Archbishop Makarios III Street will be closed from its junction with Dimokratias Street to its junction with the main Nicosia-Troodos Road near the Akaki packing plant. Drivers are urged to use Dimokratias Street for their travel. In any case, during the execution of the works, there will be appropriate temporary signage for the smooth flow of traffic in the various directions. Limassol District Larnaca District Pafos District On the old Pafos-Limassol road, during the period 13/5/2024 – 12/5/2025 (for 12 months), construction work will be carried out to stabilize a section of the road, opposite Petra tou Romiou (near the CTO refreshment bar in Petra tou Romiou). During the works, the section of the road being reconstructed will not be available to traffic. There will be continuous and unhindered traffic movement on both sides of the construction site. Traffic on the old Pafos-Limassol road in the direction from Pafos to Limassol will be diverted from the Petra tou Romiou exit (after Aphrodite Hills on the left) and from Limassol / Pissouri to Pafos from the Pissouri exit, on the Pafos-Limassol motorway. Also on the old Paphos-Limassol road, in the section near Petra tou Romiou, construction works will be carried out between 17/06/2024 and 16/06/2025
