Pafos Live 4 April 2025
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works wishes to inform citizens regarding recent publications regarding waiting in the arrivals hall of Paphos Airport. On 1 April 2025, there was an increase in passenger attendance due to the simultaneous arrival of four flights, resulting in a waiting time of up to 15 minutes, although the airport's managing company, Hermes Airports, made efforts to redistribute flights to reduce congestion.
The need to upgrade the infrastructure is imperative. The current government, recognizing the shortcomings it inherited, proceeded with the start of Phase 2 of the upgrade works of Paphos Airport, as well as Larnaca Airport. The works, which started on 21 March 2025, include increasing the surface area of the terminal building at Paphos Airport by 30%. With the completion of the upgrade, the goal is to serve 5 million passengers per year, compared to 2.7 million passengers per year provided for in the initial plans of the concession agreement, a percentage increase of 85%.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works recognises that the duration of the works may cause temporary inconveniences. However, it assures passengers that every effort is being made to limit the disruption. The completion of the projects is expected in June 2027, when passengers will be able to enjoy the upgraded facilities of Paphos Airport.
