APOEL - PAID €700,000 IN TAX

 Filenews 26 April 2025

A cheque for €700,000 was handed over by APOEL to the Tax Department for the payment of part of the new debts it created after 2023. It is worth noting that the amount of APOEL's new debts amounts to €1.8 million.

According to information, the APOEL Management has assured that in the next 2-3 months it is expected to pay part of the remaining debts. At the same time, he submitted a request to the Tax Commissioner to be reinstated in the debt repayment plan. A decision that will have to be taken by the Council of Ministers.

It is also recalled that Apollon and Anorthosis, who paid 40% of the new debts, as well as the AEL club, which has committed to pay off the debts, are asking for reintegration into the plan. It is noted that the decision of the Council of Ministers to grant tax deductions on interest and charges regarding the proposal of Paphos and Aris to pay off the entire amount of debts is also pending. Therefore, after these data, the Ministry is called upon to take its final decisions.

As "F" is informed, the Minister of Finance does not seem to consent to the reintegration of football teams into the plan so far, as he demands that the full amount of the new debts be repaid. Within May, the teams will have to receive the relevant certificate from the Ministry of Finance that they have settled their obligations to the state, in order to meet the UEFA criteria.
