 Pafos Live 12 April 2025

The Archaeological Site of Kato Paphos was visited yesterday by the Ambassadors of ten Member States of the European Union, on the initiative of the Embassy of Poland in Cyprus.

The delegation was attended by the Ambassadors of Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, Poland and Italy.

The Mayor of Paphos, Mr. Phaedon Phaedonos, welcomed the Ambassadors at the entrance of the Park, where they were preceded by a brief discussion on the importance of the city's cultural heritage and the common values that unite the peoples of Europe.

This was followed by a tour of the site, with the scientific presence and in-depth presentation of Mrs. Evdoxia Papoutsi, Archaeologist. Ms. Papoutsi, utilizing her experience and scientific training in highlighting the archaeological identity of Paphos, offered the Ambassadors a complete picture of the historical and cultural significance of the site.

This visit is yet another practical recognition of the role of Paphos as a cultural pillar in the European family and strengthens the bridges of cooperation and mutual understanding between the peoples of Europe.

The Municipality of Paphos expresses its warm thanks to the Embassy of Poland for the relevant initiative, as well as to all the Ambassadors for their presence and the practical interest they showed for the city and its culture.
