The Municipality of Ierokipia was awarded by the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CY.C.E.R.E.) as the "Green City of Cyprus".
In particular, two awards are awarded to this municipality in the Paphos district: The "Green City of Cyprus" award for the project "Creation and upgrading of green spaces" in the category Green Areas – Urban Biodiversity and the "Green City of Cyprus" award for the project "Plastic reduction actions and recycling enhancement" in the category Waste management.
With this award, the Municipality of Ierokipia automatically joins the Network of Green Cities and Communities, created by CY.C.E.R.E.
Announcing this distinction, the municipality points out that it is a local authority particularly sensitive to environmental issues and will continue even more dynamically to take initiatives for further greening of its area.
It will also intensify its efforts to make recycling an integral part of the daily lives of its citizens.
