TALA REFUSE & RECYCLING
Residents are reminded please that with regard to recycling, it is essential that this is placed
- in the correct bags [clear for plastics/cans, and brown/black for paper/cardboard]
- these bags are placed OUTSIDE of your bin house on Sunday for collection Monday
It appears that some residents are not using the correct bags for recycling and are leaving these inside their bin houses - which means that the refuse collectors pick up this refuse, it goes into landfill, but also that it increases the cost of refuse collection to the council [fills up lorry, more trips to the landfill site, and each deposit at the landfill site is weighed!], the cost of which will be passed on to residents and the refuse does not get recycled.
Much higher refuse charges are anticipated this year as the closure of the Paphos landfill site is imminent. When this happens, refuse will have to be taken to the other side of Limassol where the charges are much higher than those imposed by Paphos.
