The United Cypriot Hunters Movement organizes on Saturday, March 15, 2025, a protest on issues related to hunting restrictions, calling for immediate regulation of the relevant decree.

Hunters are planning to block two main roundabouts in Limassol and Larnaca, protesting inadequate management of hunting areasbans on dog training and illegal poachers' activity.

Requests and complaints

Protesters say the hunting community has been facing serious problems for years. "A failed management program is being pursued, which has led to game misery," they argue, calling for a scientific study and a fairer distribution of hunting areas.

Their key demands include:

  • More areas for hunting dog training
  • Protection from activists who disrupt their activity
  • Limiting the uncontrolled licensing of photovoltaic parks in biotopes
  • Tougher penalties for poaching

Controversy with the Cyprus Hunting Federation

The protesters demand the presence of representatives of the Cyprus Federation of Hunting & Wildlife Management (KOK & DAZ), calling on them to answer if they are willing to meet the hunters' demands"If there is consent, the Game Service can proceed with the issuance of the decree," organizers said.

Call for mass participation

The hunters call on all clubs and their members to participate forcefully in the protest, stressing that unity is the "key" to secure their rights. "Only united can we claim our share," they say.
