The works for the installation of shelters in the popular neighborhood, in the market of Pafos, are in progress. In the area there are dozens of shops that are a pole of attraction for tourists almost all year round.
The metal canopies for the complete coverage of the area of Laiki Geitonia are placed on Bank of Cyprus, Agora, Nicolaides, Miaouli and part of Kyriakou Mavrou streets. The Pafos Municipality aims to enhance the commerciality of the area throughout the year, both during the summer and winter months, creating a more attractive environment for businesses, attracting more visitors and improving the quality of life of local residents. The mayor of Pafos reminded that municipal crews had proceeded to upgrade the facades of shops and floors in the area.
The recent investments of the local authority in the area have attracted the interest of private individuals who are preparing to renovate buildings abandoned for years and turn them into small city hotels.
The shelters will be completed within the next few weeks, before the start of the new summer tourist season at a cost of one million euros.
