Cyprus Police
The Police today proceeded to arrest a person in the context of investigating a car theft case, an offense that was committed between the dates of 24 – 25 January 2025 in Limassol. This is a 25-year-old man, who was taken into custody to facilitate the interrogations. Specifically, members of the Police (Limassol Police Department), while on a motorized patrol in Limassol, spotted a car that did not have registration plates on the front and whose driver had his face covered. The driver was signalled to stop for inspection, but he accelerated in order to escape, while at the rear of the car, there was a registration plate that belonged to a different model of vehicle.
Warning shots were fired to stop the vehicle, whose driver was driving recklessly and dangerously, violating traffic signals. At some point, the driver stopped the car and tried to flee on foot. He was pursued by members of the Police, who managed to stop him and arrest him. During his arrest, he resisted and attacked a member of the Police. Subsequent examinations revealed that he had three outstanding arrest warrants for various cases. The examinations are continuing by the Limassol Police Station, in collaboration with the Germasogeia Police Station.
