The EU Agency for Asylum delivered 62 reception units on Friday to Cyprus’ asylum service, for the needs of the Pournara migrant reception centre.
In a post on Faceboo, the agency said “this expansion adds two new accommodation zones, increasing capacity by 240 places to ease pressure on facilities and improve conditions for those seeking protection.”
The project is part of the agency’s ongoing support to Cyprus to strengthen reception systems and ensure fair access to asylum procedures.
The new units will provide “better shelter, privacy and essential facilities, helping create a safer and more stable environment” and will “support national authorities in managing arrivals more efficiently.”
