DUST AFFECTING THE ISLAND - FROM JORDANIAN DESERT AND SAUDIA ARABIA

A "cocktail" of strong winds, dust and rising temperatures on Wednesday's weather menu (5/3)

As Senior Meteorological Officer Michalis Mouskos reported to SigmaLive, today dust in the atmosphere will be at high levels, with some areas in orange and some in yellow.

The dust arrives from the east, specifically from the Jordanian desert and Saudi Arabia.   See the map re main areas affected.

He noted that tomorrow, Thursday (6/3), all areas are expected to be in the yellow zone and by Friday it is expected to subside. 

Regarding the winds, since yesterday there have been strong winds on the coast, 6 to 7 Beaufort.   

He concluded by saying that no rain is expected and that temperatures will rise in the coming days.
