Cyprus has the worst performance among European Union member states in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Report on Sustainable Development in Europe 2025, issued a month ago.
The Report records every year the progress of the countries evaluated and this year ranks Cyprus in 32nd place, out of 34 countries in Europe. The assessment is done by taking data from various sources and international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Health Organization and the United Nations International Emergency Fund for Children (WHO/UNICEF), Eurostat, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Birdlife International.
With an overall score of 62.7, which is slightly higher than the previous score of 61.0 of 2023/24 (where Cyprus again held the same position), our country ranks just above North Macedonia (33rd) and Turkey (34th).
