Honouring the long history and cultural heritage of the region, Akamas Municipality will hold a special event, on the theme: “The Antiquities at Cape Drepanon: Early Christian Basilicas, Baptistery and Necropolis”, on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 4.30pm, at the Ballroom of Cap St Georges Hotel & Resort.
Key speaker will be Dr Charalambos Bakirtzis, Director of the Greek Archaeological Mission to Agios Georgios Pegeias, who will present the important excavation discoveries in the area of Cape Drepanum, with special emphasis on early Christian basilicas, the baptistery and necropolis.e event is part of broader promotion of the cultural identity of Akamas, an area of great historical and archaeological value, both for Paphos and Cyprus, and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
Akamas Municipality considers it its duty to disseminate knowledge and promote the archaeological heritage of the area, toward the preservation of historical memory and boosting cultural continuity.he event is open to all, targeted to those interested in the history, archaeology and culture of Cyprus.
