The state is proceeding with the evaluation of the proposals for the Paphos Marina, as reported by the President of the Association of Large Developments, Andreas Dimitriadis.
Specifically, he said that the period for submitting proposals by interested investors for the Paphos Marina ended on January 22, with Mr. Dimitriadis adding that the state, in collaboration with the consultants it has hired, will proceed - after taking the proposals into account and evaluating them - to prepare the terms of the tender and specifications so that an international tender for the construction and operation of the Marina can be announced within the first six months.
Mr. Dimitriadis, when asked about this, stated that the capacity of the Paphos Marina will be 1000 berths, and that this is the result and product of market research conducted by the state to determine the necessary capacity that the Marina should have.
According to Mr. Dimitriadis, the geographical location of Paphos Marina is such that it justifies the capacity of 1000 berths or even more.
He added that the Paphos Marina will include commercial activities, shops, sports centers, gyms, while it will also have residential development, as well as a cultural center.
From the preliminary studies that have been carried out, he said, it will have support services, a reception building, a medical office, a fuel area and more.
Additionally, Mr. Dimitriadis said that the implementation of the project will add new momentum to the development prospects of the entire province, placing Paphos on the "global nautical map and in particular in yachting tourism", the form of tourism that, as he said, is characterized primarily by high-income visitors.
He also said that its creation will bring multiplier benefits for the region and will contribute substantially to the development of nautical tourism in Paphos and Cyprus in general, to the enrichment and upgrading of the tourism product, to the attraction of nautical tourism and investors, and will highlight the region as a pole of attraction.
