The damage to the historic building that housed APOP for decades in the centre of Pafos, opposite the Municipal Hall, although significant, can be repaired within a few months when the preparatory work for the insurance part and the compensation of users is completed. This is according to competent officials, five months after the large fire that caused almost complete damage to the first floor of the building and smaller ones on its ground floor.
The insurance companies are expected to cover the reconstruction of the building, as well as the damages suffered by the two insureds, based on the contracts that have been concluded, and then the restoration works of the damages in their entirety can begin. Factors related to the construction industry pointed out yesterday to "F" that it is sad what happened and in terms of impressions something catastrophic, but there should be no panic, in his expression, given that structurally the building can easily return to its previous form.
This optimistic message is shared by the Mayor of Pafos, Phedon Phedonos, who immediately after the sad incident had gone to the scene and saw the picture of the next day. Mr. Phedonos said at the time that both the tavern that operates on the ground floor of the building and the business that operated its offices recently on the first floor, have insurance coverage for the premises and expressed hope that the process will be completed in a short time so that the work of repairing the damage can begin.
