Aegean and Olympic Air announced changes to their flight schedule for Friday, February 28, due to the 24-hour general strike of ADEDY, in which the Hellenic Air Traffic Controllers Association (EEEKE) participates.
According to Aegean's announcement, the strike will last from 00:00 to 23:59 (local time), resulting in cancellations and modifications of all scheduled domestic and international flights.
As noted, all scheduled flights inside and outside Greece are cancelled, with the exception of some flights that will be operated with a modified itinerary.
For Cyprus, two flights are affected, namely the flight A3909 from Larnaca to Athens, which will take place on Friday 28 February with departure time 23.30 (local time). Also, flight code A3910 from Athens to Larnaca will depart on March 1st at 12.00 midnight.
In addition, due to the strike, cancellations and modifications will also take place on scheduled flights on February 27 and March 1.
The announcement states that "in order to better serve and facilitate passengers, the company has arranged for the addition of additional flights and an increase in the seats offered both in the domestic and international network in the days immediately before and immediately after February 28th".
It is noted that "passengers who have tickets on flights affected on February 28 due to the strike, will receive a message from the company or from the respective travel agencies through which they purchased their tickets, in order to be informed about the possibilities provided by the company."
In addition, "in order to facilitate passengers who have planned to travel on Clean Monday, and specifically during the period 1st to 3rd of March, AEGEAN provides the possibility either of free reissue and change of tickets at no extra cost for trips or flights that will take place until December 31st, or of providing credit vouchers".
