Within the framework of Specific Objective 3 – Prevention and Combating of Crime of the Internal Security Fund, the Cyprus Police as Beneficiary is implementing a project entitled “Strengthening the investigation of serious crimes”. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Cyprus Police for the effective prevention and fight against crime. The need to strengthen and upgrade the provincial Crime Investigation Departments (CIDs), as well as the CID Headquarters, arises from the multiple and complex number of cases they are called upon to investigate due to the rapid increase in crime in recent years. With the completion of the project, long-term and long-term results are expected, which will offer added value to the policies of the European Union. In addition, the citizens of the Republic of Cyprus will benefit, in terms of combating and investigating crimes. With proper investigation and resolution of crimes, the image of the Police towards the public can also be improved.
