The Police show the fans of five First Division football teams as the most dangerous who often cause densely violent behaviours during the current football season 2024-'25.
In a report to the CFA aimed at demonstrating the need to ban the movement of fans of these teams, the Police "pin" the fans of AEL, Omonia 29 May, APOEL, Apollon and Anorthosis, as the most troublesome and dangerous. The report, presented by "F", refers to a series of incidents caused by fans of these teams who are involved in violence at almost every match. Characteristic this year is the frequent use of naval flares, which are considered to be extremely dangerous.
First on the list of problematic fans, according to the report signed by Deputy Chief of Police Panicos Stavrou, are AEL fans. As recorded, the expression of violent and antisocial behaviour on the part of AEL fans began on September 15, 2024 at the ALPHA MEGA stadium in Limassol and specifically at the APOLLON-AEL match, where due to the behaviour of the organized fans of the team, the match never started. Incidents took place both during the arrival of AEL fans at the stadium and during their departure. Two members of the Police were injured, one of them seriously in the leg by throwing a dangerous object at him.
– We also had violent and antisocial behaviours by the fans of the AEL team during their transition to Nicosia on November 10, 2024, where on the motorway, despite the Latsia weighing station, they used naval flares against the police cars on duty at that point.
– On January 24, 2024, during the AEL-SALAMINA match at the ALPHA MEGA stadium in Limassol, AEL fans tried to enter the locker rooms and the officials' area. With the timely intervention of the supervisors and the Police, this was not possible.
– We also had incidents after the end of the football match OMONOIA-AEL at GSP stadium for the cup on February 28, 2025, where again the organized fans of AEL, for no reason or reason, when leaving the stadium, after the end of the match, proceeded to stone throwing and throwing dangerous objects against the members of the Police.
– At the end of the AEK-AEL match on February 2, 2025 at AEK AREN A stadium, AEL fans again engaged in similar violent behaviours. They threw a naval flare, while during the match they threw plastic cups inside the pitch and in the east stand, where AEK fans were. Upon leaving, they attacked members of the police by throwing Molotov cocktails, naval flares, high-powered firecrackers, other pyrotechnic articles and stones at them. One member of the police was injured not seriously.
APOLLON Limassol
The expression of violent and antisocial behaviour on the part of APOLLON Limassol fans began on August 31, 2024 at the match ANORTHOSIS - APOLLON in Larnaca, where before its start during their arrival at the stadium, fans of the Limassol team, attacked and beat a fan of ANORTHOSIS because he was wearing the colours of his team. Also, upon his arrival at the stadium, they used dangerous objects against the fans of ANORTHOSIS and the Police.
– Incidents involving Apollon fans also occurred on September 15, 2024 at the ALPHAMEGA stadium in Limassol and specifically at the APOLLON-AEL match, where APOLLON fans, when leaving the stadium after the interruption of the match, inside the stadium, used dangerous objects, namely, torches, smoke bombs, firecrackers, flares and other fireworks.
– During the APOLLON-APOEL match at the ALPHAMEGA Stadium in Limassol, on November 2, 2024, the organized fans of APOLLON, before the start of the match, inside the stadium, made extensive use of dangerous objects, namely torches, smoke bombs, firecrackers, flares and other pyrotechnic items. The result was the punishment of the APOLLON team by the CFA sports judge.
ANORTHOSIS
The fans of ANORTHOSIS Famagusta in the match of the first matchday of their team against APOLLON Limassol, at the stadium Ant. Papadopoulos in Larnaca, on August 31, 2024, before the start of the match, inside the stadium, made extensive use of dangerous objects, namely, torches, smoke bombs, firecrackers, flares and other pyrotechnic articles.
– They also showed violent behaviour at the APOEL-ANORTHOSIS match on October 28, 2024 at GSP Stadium in Nicosia, where they used dangerous objects during their attendance. After leaving the stadium, a portion of Anorthosis and APOEL fans clashed in the middle of the motorway, resulting in serious injury to an Anorthosis fan.
– On December 21, 2024, during the match APOLLON-ANORTHOSIS at the ALPHAMEGA stadium in Limassol, the fans of ANORTHOSIS, when arriving outside the stadium, used dangerous objects, namely torches, firecrackers, naval flare and other pyrotechnic items.
– End of the match ANORTHOSIS-APOEL, which took place at the Ant. Papadopoulos in Larnaca on February 3, 2025 inside the stand of the organized fans of ANORTHOSIS, a large number of torches were lit, about 50 in total.
APOEL
The fans of the APOEL team, showed violent behaviour in the match APOEL-ANORTHOSIS on October 28, 2024 at GSP Stadium in Nicosia, where during their arrival they used fireworks, while when leaving the stadium, they clashed in the middle of the motorway, with a portion of ANORTHOSIS fans, resulting in the serious injury of an ANORTHOSIS fan.
– In the APOEL-PAFOS cup match, on January 30, 2025 at GSP Stadium in Nicosia, APOEL's organized fans upon arrival at the stadium used pyrotechnic articles outside the south side of the stadium at a distance of 200 meters from the stadium.
Heavy board for the fans of Omonia 29M
For the fans of OMONOIA 29M, a series of incidents are recorded, mainly with the lighting of torches and sparklers, fortunately without injuries. As noted, fans of this team oppose the fan card and do not enter the stadiums.
During the match of their team's first matchday against AEL on August 24, 2024, they gathered outside the stadium in Peristerona and used dangerous objects, namely torches, smoke bombs, firecrackers, flares and other pyrotechnic items.
– In the match OMONOIA 29M-APOEL, fans of OMONOIA 29M, gathered outside the stadium in Peristerona and used dangerous objects throughout the match.
– On November 2, 2024, during the match OMONOIA - OMONOIA 29M, fans of OMONOIA 29M, gathered outside the GSP stadium in Nicosia, where for about 40 minutes before the start of the match, they made extensive use of dangerous objects, namely torches, firecrackers, naval flares and other pyrotechnic items.
– In the match OMONOIA 29M-AEK which took place on December 1, 2024 at the stadium Katokopia – Epistrofi, the fans of OMONOIA 29M showed similar behaviour as above before the start of the match. – Before the start of the ANORTHOSIS-OMONIA 29M race, which took place on December 7, 2024 at the Ant. Papadopoulos in Larnaca, the fans of OMONIA 29M. They went outside the stadium outside the visitors' stand where they made extensive use of dangerous objects, while a naval flare was thrown at Anorthosis fans without injuries.
