The State Health Services Organisation (SHSO) is proceeding with the implementation of controlled parking with the introduction of a charge, at Nicosia General Hospital as of 24 February 2024.
The new regulation ensures that the available parking spaces are used exclusively by those associated with the hospital's services.

The car park will be under 24-hour control by the reception staff, who will ensure the proper functioning of the system and provide information to the public.
The entrance and exit of the car park are controlled by opening bars. The license plates of incoming cars are recorded in software via camera and upon exit of the vehicle the driver is required to pay a parking fee in accordance with the following terms:
- Up to 3 hours: Free
- 3-5 hours: 2€
- Beyond 5 hours: 15€
Free parking will be provided in the following categories:
Hospital Staff
- The staff of the hospital is exempt from paying a parking fee if they do not have a personal parking space in the basement. The management of staff exceptions is undertaken by the Human Resources Department.
- The Human Resources Department will immediately be granted exclusive access to the list of staff exemptions with the right to grant an indefinite exemption from the payment of a parking fee. At the same time, the personnel department will be trained by the contractor company in the management of this list. The duration of this training is estimated at 15 minutes.
- The human resources department will ask the departments and clinics of the hospital for the registration numbers of the staff vehicles that will be included in this list.
- The Human Resources Department is henceforth responsible for adding license plates for new entrant personnel and removing license plates for outgoing personnel.
- Human Resources Department should allocate at least 3 officers for training in this activity to ensure interchangeability
Patients coming for outpatient appointments
- Patients who come for outpatient appointments are expected to be served at times that fall under free parking. In the case of a patient whose service time exceeds the limit of free parking, patients will contact the point where they have registered at the outpatient clinic to confirm the delay and inform the staff at the Reception by telephone by forwarding the request for exemption from charges
Patients coming in for day care services
- Responsible for granting an exemption will be the secretarial staff of the clinic providing day care, who will be granted access to the software for daily exception registration
Hospitalized patients.
- With the possibility of providing free parking to a familiar person.
People with disabilities.
- Persons with an approved disability card are exempt from fees
According to the SHSO, the management of exceptions will be carried out by the specialized staff of the respective departments, which has already received the necessary training.
