On Friday, the electronic draw for the motorcycle protective equipment grant scheme for 2024 will be held. The program provides a grant of up to €500 for the purchase of a motorcyclist's body airbag, with a total available budget of €350,000.
According to an announcement by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the draw will take place through www.randomdraws.com platform, in the presence of representatives of organized motorcycle groups.
As reported, a total of 1,341 applications were received for the "high power" category and 102 applications for the "low power" category. Applications in the 'low power' category have automatically received a 'pre-grant approval' as their number was lower than foreseen (200).
It is added that the draw will take place to select the 598 beneficiaries of the "high power" category (including the 98 grants of the "low power" category that remained available), while the 743 runners-up will be placed in order of priority for later information, if some of the original beneficiaries do not proceed with the confirmation of purchase and claim of the grant.
It is noted that the results of the draw will be posted on www.roadsafetycyprus.gov.cy website and the successful candidates will be informed via email. If there are successful candidates who will not take advantage of the sponsorship, the runners-up, in the order in which they were drawn, will be given the opportunity to claim the grant, and then they will receive a notification.
It is recalled that the announcement of the project was made on 02 December 2024 and the application process closed on 31 December 2024.
"The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works thanks all participants and remains committed to enhancing road safety through meaningful measures to protect motorcyclists," the statement concludes.
