The Anti-Narcotics Service proceeded to the arrest of a 56-year-old foreign man in Paphos, after the detection and seizure of a large quantity of narcotic substances.

Specifically, during an arrest and search of the suspect's vehicle, yesterday afternoon in an area of Paphos, 16 packages containing a quantity of cannabis, two packages containing white powder believed to be cocaine, as well as a precision scale were found.

The 56-year-old was arrested for flagrant offences and taken into custody to facilitate interrogations.

Then, based on a court warrant, a search was carried out at his home, where a package containing cannabis was found.

In total, 10 kilograms and 907 grams of cannabis, as well as 942 grams of cocaine, were located and seized.

A minor is the perpetrator of the desecration of the monument of the fallen EOKA fighters in Dasoudi Park.

Following the complaint made by the municipality of Pafos about the spray painted slogans on the plaques and portraits of the 17 EOKA heroes who either fell in battles or were killed by the British on the gallows or under torture, the police identified the minor allegedly responsible for this action.

The minor has admitted and maintained that he was not motivated by anyone else to proceed with these actions.

An 18-year-old man was arrested by members of the Police in connection with an investigated case of car arson, committed today in Limassol. The 18-year-old was taken into custody, with the ICF Limassol investigating the case.

According to the data under investigation, around 3.00 am on Tuesday, a fire broke out in a car, which was parked on the street outside the residence of its owners, in the area of Kato Polemidia, in Limassol. The fire was extinguished by members of the Fire Brigade, while examinations carried out at the scene by the Police and the Fire Brigade, found that the fire had been set maliciously.

Subsequent police examinations revealed evidence against the 18-year-old. A judicial arrest warrant was issued against him, under which he was arrested shortly before 3.30pm on Tuesday and taken into custody for the purpose of investigating the case.

The Police arrested yesterday two persons, aged 16 and 17, in the context of an investigation into a case of arson of a kindergarten, as well as arson of a car, committed last Saturday evening, 01 February, in the Nicosia district.

According to the evidence under investigation, shortly after 11.00 on Saturday night, a fire broke out in a Public and Community Kindergarten in Nicosia district, as well as in a car, owned by a 56-year-old woman, which was parked nearby.

Members of the Police rushed to the area for examinations, as well as members of the Fire Brigade, who extinguished the fire in the kindergarten. The fire in the car had already been extinguished by the 56-year-old owner of the vehicle.

From the examinations that followed, it was found that both the fire in the kindergarten and the fire in the parked car had been maliciously set. During examinations conducted by the ICF of Nicosia, evidence emerged against the 16-year-old and the 17-year-old. After court warrants were issued for their arrest, they were arrested on Tuesday by members of the police and taken into custody for the purpose of investigating the arson case.

The number of people wanted for the incidents that took place on January 28 in the area of the indoor stadium of Limassol, during a handball match between the teams of APOLLON and OMONIA 29M, now rises to 14.

Meanwhile, yesterday, police arrested two more people, both aged 24, to facilitate investigations. With the two new arrests, the number of arrests in this case rose to four.

The two 24-year-olds were arrested under court warrants issued on the basis of testimony obtained against them as part of the investigation into the case.

It is recalled that the incidents took place on the evening of January 28, in the area of the indoor stadium of APOLLON, in Limassol, during the handball match between the teams of APOLLON and OMONIA 29M.

Specifically, at around 9.25pm, after evaluating relevant information, anti-riot police squads intercepted a group of about 100 OMONIA 29M fans, wearing hoods and holding clubs and offensive instruments, were heading towards the stadium.

In order to stop the above fans, tear gas was used by the Police, while objects thrown at the police officers slightly injured one policeman.

In the same case, two persons, aged 22 and 32, were arrested in the previous days and are in custody, while judicial arrest warrants were issued for three other persons, who are wanted, while a total of 14 persons are wanted.

A case of online fraud, extortion of money by false representations, as well as offences related to the prevention and combating of money laundering, against a 32-year-old man from Iran is being investigated by the ICF of Limassol.

Specifically, it was reported by two foreign persons, permanent residents of Cyprus, that for the last six years they held two wallets with personal investments in various cryptocurrencies.

However, they found that they fell victim to fraud, as their wallets had been hacked without their knowledge or consent, resulting in unauthorized withdrawals totalling $2,891,293 USDT, (approximately €2.8 million).

According to information provided by Filenews, the withdrawal process took 18 minutes and involved 16 separate withdrawals, while some transactions were initiated within the same minutes from one wallet. Subsequent investigations revealed testimony against a specific person.

He is a 32-year-old man from Iran who was arrested this morning on a court warrant. He then appeared before the Limassol District Court with the court issuing a seven-day detention order against him.

The case is being investigated by the Financial Crime Office of the ICF of Limassol.

A three-year prison sentence was imposed today by the Famagusta Permanent Assize Court on a 32-year-old man, following a trial of a case of possession of a pistol, ammunition and a quantity of cannabis, found in January, 2024, during a search of the 32-year-old's residence, in the Larnaca district.

The search of the 32-year-old's residence was conducted on January 07, 2024, by members of the Anti-Narcotics Service – YKAN and members of the Famagusta ICF. During the search, which took place in the presence of the 32-year-old, a pistol was found inside the house along with its magazine, 11 shell casings, a blank cartridge, as well as a quantity of cannabis, weighing 111 grams.

The 32-year-old was arrested by the members of the Police, while upon completion of the police examinations, a case of possession of drugs with intent to supply to another person, illegal possession of a firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition of a firearm was registered against him for trial.

The case had been investigated by the YKAN (Famagusta District Unit) and the Famagusta ICF.
